Window frosting for a close-set Elbow Park lot
Inner-city lots in Elbow Park put houses close together, and this side window looked directly into the neighbouring home from a few metres away. The roman blind was the only privacy option, which meant choosing between sightlines and daylight every day. The goal was permanent privacy on the glass itself, with the room staying bright.

Project challenge
The window faced the neighbouring house at close range, with their windows in the direct line of sight. Keeping the blind down solved privacy but cost the room its daylight, and any gap brought the sightline right back. The fix had to work at all hours without darkening the space.
Installed solution
Both panes were cleaned and finished with Crystal Etch frosted film, edge to edge. The frost reads as a soft, even white from inside and out, removes the view in both directions, and lets the full width of the window keep feeding light into the room. The blind is now a styling choice instead of a privacy requirement.
Project Photos
Before and after
These photos show the direct sightline into the neighbouring house before the install, and the finished frosted glass after.

Glass review
Both panes were checked and cleaned before filming so no marks or residue would read through the frost on a window this close to eye level.
Installation focus
Edge-to-edge coverage on two separate casement panes, with even frost density so the panes match when the light comes through.
Result
The sightline into the neighbouring house is gone in both directions, and the room keeps its full daylight with the blind up.
Planning Note
Frosted film or blinds for close neighbours
Blinds solve privacy only while they are down, and they take the daylight with them. Frosted film moves the privacy onto the glass itself, which suits side windows on close-set lots where the sightline never changes.
Map the sightline
Stand where you spend time in the room and note what you can see through the glass. If the neighbouring windows are in view, they can see back.
Frost the whole pane
Partial-height frost can work on street-facing glass, but close side windows usually need full coverage so the view is closed at every angle.
Expect the glow
Etch-style frosts like Crystal Etch turn the window into a soft light panel. Rooms usually feel brighter after the blind stops doing the privacy work.
